The Basics
What is required to sign up with xPal and start using it?
A very simple two-step process: choose a username and set a 4-digit PIN. That is it. It only takes a few seconds to sign up and start communicating privately and securely anywhere in the world.
You will be assigned your own unique global 9-digit xID. You can communicate to anyone with a xID anywhere in the world without the need for an area code or country code.
Once you sign up, simply add friends and family from within the xPal app. Once they accept your invite, you can start texting or audio and video calling with them.
Do I need a mobile number or email to sign up and use xPal?
No. All you need is a username and a 4-digit PIN of your choice. That is it.
What is xID™?
xID is a unique global 9-digit number assigned to you once you register on xPal. It is your private masked identity on the xPal platform. It will enable you to send encrypted text, make encrypted and secure audio and video calls to any other xID globally, without the need for an area code or country code.
To communicate with other xIDs you will need to invite your family or friends to get their own xIDs. Registration is a simple process that only takes a few seconds. Simply tap the add friends button and choose which friend to invite. Once they receive your invite, all they have to do is tap on the link they received. Upon completion of a quick two-step registration, they will be added to your contacts and you will be added to theirs. At that point, you can start communicating privately, securely, and anonymously with them.

What is a secure end-to-end encrypted messenger app?
This term refers to an application that utilizes a security protocol to encrypt messages or content before leaving your device and decrypts that communication at the recipient end. Therefore, no one, including the platform’s administrators, can see or read any message in transit.
There are many excellent End-to-End messenger apps besides xPal, It’s important to do your own research to determine what data is collected by other apps.
xPal is made to co-exist with other messenger apps as it utilizes a unique Global xID that does not require a phone number and has unique features that are only found on the xPal platform such as:
• Total Wipeout™
• Remote Wipeout™
• Terminate™
• Photo & Video Sanitizer™
• And much more
Are audio and video calls also End-to-End encrypted on xPal?
Yes. Any transmission, including text, audio, video, voice message, documents, photos, or videos are encrypted at the source and decrypted at the recipient’s device.
How many encrypted messages can I send with Free membership?

How do I verify that a text is from an Official xPal xID?
xPal has only two Official xIDs to communicate to its members. They are:
• xID: 123 456 789 used by Customer Support
• xID: 000 000 123 used by our Customer Information Center
Both of these numbers will display a badge at the top of the chat that says, “This is the official account of xPal Support.”
This is not an image that will be sent so be careful if anyone that does not have one of the two xIDs above sends you this image. If you receive that image, immediately block them and report it to customer support.
Why can’t I make an audio or video call to a friend?
Depending on the default privacy settings of the recipient, which are intended to protect the privacy of our members, the member(s) you are communicating with must have you added as a contact before you are able to call them. If you are unable to do so, you may send them a reminder via text to add you in their Contacts on xPal. Just because you have them in your own Contact list on xPal does not mean that you to be able to call them. On the other hand, they will be able to call you if you previously added them to your Contact list. Basically, audio and video calls require the member initiating the call to be in the Contact list of the recipient.
Can I text or call a mobile number on xPal?
No. However, you can text or audio and video call any other xID, anywhere in the world without the need of a country code or area code, on the xPal platform.
If you want to stay in touch or reach out to a family or friends, simply send an invite from your xPal account. It’s quick and easy for them to register in just a few seconds and then they can start communicating with you for free on the most secure and private messenger app.
Since all communications are facilitated within the xPal platform, no personal information is needed including a phone number, real name, email address, location or any other private information. Feel free to communicate with peace of mind knowing that no one is listening in or accessing your data.
How to contact customer service?
There are two ways to contact our support:
The easiest and fastest way is to use our xID:
123 456 789. We strive to answer all requests in less than 12 hours, but often within an hour.
You can also email us at
support@xpal.com.
Can I text or call anyone in the world with xPal?
Yes. As long as you have their xID you can text them. However, if they do not have you in their Contact list on xPal, you only can send two texts and must wait for a reply before you can message them again. You cannot call anyone unless you both have each other in your contact list.
Do I need to set a password to use the app? Is it recommended?
No. However, it’s highly recommended to add a password. This will give you an additional level of protection. Also, if a password is set, it will be required in the event you log in to a different device. This additional authentication requirement adds an extra layer of security to your account.
How to protect myself from scammers?
Do not provide any financial or personal information. xPal and its team will NEVER ask for any sensitive information about you. If anyone texts or calls you soliciting any type of personal or financial information pretending to be from xPal, immediately Block them and report the incident to customer service (xID: 123 456 789).
There are only two official xIDs that xPal uses to communicate with its members:
• 123 456 789 for support
• 000 000 123 for customer information center
There are many informative articles available online to help protect you from scammers no matter which App you use. Remember, secured apps are only meant to deliver your communication to a recipient securely through with end-to-end encryption. It is up to you to protect your personal information from unwanted disclosure to scammers. No one can protect you from that except good common sense and following best practices for online safety.
Where are xPal servers located?
We are primarily based in the USA. However, we utilize servers in different parts of the world to provide optimal performance and for infrastructure backup purposes. Please note that xPal does not store any data once delivered. Furthermore, our servers have no personal data on any user or any content of communications between users once delivered.
Can the photos or videos be downloaded by the recipient?
By default, files are restricted from being downloaded. However, you can authorize the recipient to download a photo or video, for example, by selecting that option once the file is ready to be sent.
How to retrieve my password or PIN?
You must activate Account Recovery through one of two options: Security Questions or Security Phrase.
If either or both are not setup, it will not be possible to retrieve your password or PIN if lost or forgotten.
How to log out my account?
Tap the Setting icon at the bottom of the main screen
Scroll all the way to the bottom and tap the Sign out icon.
How to delete my account?
Although we would hate to see you leave our community, the process is fairly easy.
• Tap the Settings icon at the bottom of the main screen
• Tap on your icon on top
• Scroll down to the bottom and tap Delete Account
Please note that once the account is deleted all data relating to that account will be permanently deleted from your device.
Can I have more than one xID on my device?
Yes. You can have up to 2 free xIDs on one device. Any additional xIDs will require an upgrade to the Gold tier. Deleted xIDs will still be counted as previously registered xIDs and deleting it will not allow an additional free xID to be installed.
You can have as many xIDs as you wish as long as you are subscribed to the Gold membership.
Can I disable the 4-digit PIN?
Only for maximum of 12 hours. The 4-Digit PIN is crucial for your security to protect your account from unwanted access. Although you can deploy the FaceID or Thumb Print as an added measure of authentication, the PIN is a required security feature.
Also, there are two other functions that are useful by having the PIN entry active:
Total Wipeout™:
Once activated, this feature enables you to use the reverse PIN to completely wipeout all your data from your device instantly, as well as wipeout any data you shared with anyone from your xID. This includes their conversations with you on their own device. Additionally, it will mask all your contacts until you sign back in with the correct PIN.
Decoy PIN™:
This is another added privacy feature which you can enable in the app settings. By entering a Decoy PIN, it will temporarily mask all your data and contacts, but unlike the Total Wipeout™, it will not permanently delete your conversations or data. Once you sign back in with the correct PIN it will be restored back.
How many times can I enter the wrong PIN before lockout?
• You can enter the wrong PIN a total of 4 times before you are locked out for 10 minutes.
• After the 10 minute lockout period, if you enter the wrong PIN again you will be locked out for 30 minutes.
• After the 30 minute lockout period, if you enter the wrong PIN again you will be locked out for 12 hours.
• After the 12 hour lockout period, if you enter the wrong PIN your account will be permanently locked.
Please note that if you forget your PIN, it will not be possible to access it again or to reset it. Your account will be permanently locked. If this happens, you will need to create a new with a new xID to use xPal again. This is designed to protect our members from illicit access to their private communication. Please make sure that you take measures to protect and remember your PIN.
Does the Gold membership offer more secured connection than the Free Membership?
No. The ultra secured end-to-end encryption and security features of xPal are the same for the Free membership as well as the Gold Stage. The only difference is that the Gold membership offers unlimited audio and video calls, additional xIDs, and the ability to send and receive high quality, uncompressed images and videos. Security and privacy of communications, as well as transmission and storage of data is exactly the same.
What file types are supported to send with xPal?
The following Files can be viewed within the xPal System and to restrict download and sharing:
Media Images : JPEG, PNG and all other formats are converted to JPEG.
Media Videos : MP4, MPEG and all other formats are converted to mp4.
Docs : PDF
The following files can be shared through xPal’s end-to-end encryption mechanism. However, once received, it will require the recipient to download it to their device. The sender cannot restrict the download of these files. Furthermore, these files cannot be viewed in the xPal system.
MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Can I buy a Gold Membership for a friend or family member?
Yes. Simply visit our website at
xPal.com and choose the Upgrade Purchase Stage Gold Membership button on the right side of the page. You can simply choose the plan you like and enter the xID you wish up upgrade. You can also choose which method of payment you wish to use. For now, Crypto is accepted.
Why can't i click on a shared link in the chat?
Simply to protect your privacy.
Once you click on a weblink, the visited website can register the referrer source, which then records the information that you are coming from xPal and can pass it along to a third-party. That would be a violation of your privacy protection. Therefore, you will need to copy the link and paste it into a web browser on your device to access the shared link.

Security and Privacy
How secure is xPal?
Overview of End-to-End Encryption method:
xPal uses a key exchange protocol which combines the Double Ratchet algorithm, PreKeys, the triple Elliptic-curve Diffie–Hellman (3-DH) handshake, and Curve25519. xPal also uses AES-256, and HMAC-SHA256 as primitives. This means that the messages and content exchanged through the xPal messenger application are encoded in such a way that only the intended recipient can decrypt the communication. No one, not even xPal administrators, can access the content of your communication with other users on the xPal platform. All our cryptographic processes, whether for data at rest or data in transit, adhere to the rigorous standards set forth in FIPS 140-2 cryptographic requirements. This standard ensures that our cryptographic implementations meet the highest levels of security and compliance, providing you with confidence in the protection of your data.
Third-Party Audit:
The xPal mobile platform has successfully completed several cybersecurity audits and been awarded certifications by one of the most reputable information security companies: DEKRA, which is a Google partner. The success of the audit resulted in Google granting the xPal application with a badge of recognition on the Google Play Store. This badge signifies that our platform meets rigorous security standards and can be trusted for secure communication.
xPal was awarded the following certifications:
App Defense Alliance/CASA Certification with PASS on every area of testing.
Testing and Certification, S.A.U Security Evaluation framework.
These are the forms that we received.
Strong Encryption Standards:
xPal uses AES 256 encryption, an industry-standard and highly secure encryption algorithm, to protect the confidentiality and integrity of data at rest.
Communication Integrity:
All communications are transmitted via TLS 1.3 encrypted channels to ensure the integrity and confidentiality of the data in transit between users.
What data does xPal collect on its members?
A username of your choosing. That’s it. No personal data of any member is ever collected or stored.
How can I find out what personal information is collected by an app, if any?
That information can be found on the App Store or Google Play Store. In the App store, simply search for the desired app and open the description page. Scroll down to the App Privacy section. There you will be able to see what data the app developers collect. In Google the Play Store, you can open the app page and tap the App Permissions to view the app’s data collection. xPal does not collect any personal data related to you.

Does xPal store messages on their servers?
No Permanent Storage:
All messages are completely erased from xPal servers upon delivery to the recipient. No text, document, photo or video is ever permanently stored on any of xPal servers nor are any backups ever made. If the recipient is offline and unable to receive a communication at that time, the following is our data deletion process:
xPal does not retain your messages or media on our servers for longer than 24 hours. Once your communications are successfully delivered, they are permanently deleted from our servers.
File Delivery Time Limits:
To protect the privacy of our members, there is a time limit for which an encrypted file can remain on the xPal server awaiting delivery. If the file is not delivered before the pre-defined time limit, it will be permanently removed from the xPal servers.
Here are the maximum time limits for each file type:
• Photos: 6 hours
• Videos: 2 hours
• Documents: 12 hours
• Texts: 24 hours
(Note: All files are always encrypted on the sender's device prior to transmission and can only be decrypted by the intended recipient on their device. No one, including xPal administrators, can decrypt, view or access these files).
Overwriting Files:
As part of the deletion process we employ a secure data overwriting method to make it virtually impossible to recover any remnants of your messages or files from our servers. This additional step ensures that in the event of an unauthorized access or security breach, user data will be effectively unreadable and unrecoverable.
Is my identity safe and anonymous even if I pay a subscription using my App Store or Play Store?
Yes! We do not collect, ask for, or store any personal information. We do not ask for real names, phone numbers, email addresses, physical addresses, or gather any personal information relating to any xID.
Any payments made through the App Store or through the Google Play Store are processed by these respective mobile app stores and the only data received is the verification code for a particular xID. This encrypted data is received on a separate stand-alone server that is located separately from the main servers. That server sends a flag to our main database to activate that xID for the term paid and cannot be back traced to a xID once the payment tracking number has been activated.
Is my xPal data secure on my device, even when the app is open?
Yes. Data is always encrypted at-rest when the app is not in use. This means that every time you leave the app, even if it in the background, your data will be encrypted. Once you view it, it will be decrypted for you. What this means to you is that if there is any unauthorized remote access to your device while it is asleep or the app is in the background, the data is encrypted and content cannot be deciphered.
Is xPal 100% safe from being hacked?
No application or platform in the world is 100% safe from hackers. xPal employs the latest security measures and a defense-in-depth architecture to protect against malicious attackers and to stay one step ahead of any threats. At the same time, xPal does not store or collect any data on any user and no user’s xID is tied to any personal identification of the user. This was intentionally done to protect the identity and privacy of all xPal users from cybercriminals.
We also employ the most sophisticated security protocols to identify and stop any potential threat in real-time, including AI which is deployed at our cloud service providers. In addition to our inhouse cyber security specialists, we also retained the best third-party security contactors to audit our system and procedures on regular basis to identify any vulnerabilities.
Can a message be retrieved once deleted?
No. We have architected are system to make that impossible. There is no backup of it anywhere, including your device. The process is called Replace And Destruct™ which first scrambles and then replaces the actual encrypted message with bogus information before permanently deleting it. Consequently, even if there is any footprint of the message it will have no meaningful content of any kind.
What are the levels of privacy authentications I can use on xPal?
xPal offers several levels of authentication to prevent unwanted access to your app:
FaceID/Finger Print: can be turned on and off in Settings
4-Digit PIN: cannot be disabled for more than 12 hours. This is designed to prevent any unwanted access. It also gives users the ability to take advantage two additional privacy protection features. See the Total Wipeout™ and Decoy PIN™ topics.
Password: this is optional and can be set up in Settings. It can provide an extra layer of security especially if you log into another device.
Security Question and/or Security Phrase: these are needed for account recovery.
How does xPal protect privacy when sending images, videos and files?
Two ways:
1. All video and image files sent with xPal undergo the Distiller™ system which strips any metadata (such as location, date, time, device Id, etc…) from these files before sending them.
2. The sender can elect to allow or restrict the recipient from downloading sent images and videos.
How do I protect my data if my device is lost or stolen?
The 4-digit PIN provides a layer of security from unwanted access to your account and the associated data stored on your device. Enabling FaceID/Finger Print adds another level of authentication, giving you peace of mind that no one can access your data in your xPal app. Furthermore, your data is encrypted at rest while the app is not in use. Therefore, any malicious intrusion of your lost device will not reveal any data.
xPal also provides an added security feature for control over the data in your lost or stolen device. Turning on the Remote Wipeout™ enables you to wipeout the entire xPal data in the lost device.
Remote Wipeout™, once activated in the Settings, will force the app to check for a network connection before starting. If there is no network connection present, it will not open the app.
If your device is lost or stolen, you can log in to another device with your xID and activate the feature to wipe out the previous device’s data. Once the lost device is connected to the internet, it will instantly wipe out all app data permanently.
How Secure xPal Audio and Video Call is?
xPal calls using WebRTC encryption, which includes Secure Real Time Protocol (SRTP), secure encryption key exchange, and secure signaling.
In Protocol layer security, SRTP encrypts the audio, video, and other data sent through the WebRTC session. In case data is bypassed it can not be readable without the decryption key.
SRTP is an extension to RTP (Real-Time Transport Protocol) that incorporates enhanced security features and is intended particularly for VoIP (Voice over IP) communications.
SRTP Encrypts any data sent through the real-time communication channel. This protects WebRTC sessions from man-in-the-middle attacks. The secure encryption key exchange protocol is DTLS-SRTP , which requires the encryption keys to be transmitted directly from peer to peer on the media plane.
Datagram Transport Layer Security (DTLS) is a channel security protocol that offers integrated key management, parameter negotiation, and secure data transfer.
The DTLS-SRTP secure encryption key exchange enables all the devices to communicate via WebRTC to securely exchange the session decryption key so that the audio, video, and other data can be decrypted and viewed by the people on each end of the call.
The key points of DTLS-SRTP are that:
1. Application data is protected using SRTP,
2. The DTLS handshake is used to establish keying material,
3. Algorithms, and parameters for SRTP.
4. A DTLS extension is used to negotiate SRTP algorithms, and
Other DTLS record-layer content types are protected using the
ordinary DTLS record format.
WebRTC enables peer-to-peer communication, though typically, a signaling server is used initially to facilitate connection setup between peers. Once the connection is established, communication occurs directly between the peers without ongoing server involvement.

No. A xID can only be active on one device at the time. Therefore, if you choose to log in on another device, you will be promoted to log out of the previous device. Also, you will be given the option to wipeout your data from the previous device.
Please note that since all data received is stored locally on your device, once you log out and log in to a new device, that data cannot be transferred. All data stored on a device is encrypted until the app is opened and unlocked.
Why I can’t see my data when I log into another device?
Since all data received is stored locally on your device, it cannot be transferred to another device even if you log out of one device and log in to a new device with the same xID. Data is not stored on any cloud servers but rather on the user’s device. All data is stored in an encrypted format and only viewable once the app is opened and unlocked.
What is Remote Wipeout? And how do I activate it?
In the event your device is lost or stolen, Remote Wipeout™ enables you to wipe out the entire xPal data from that device.
Remote Wipeout™, once activated in the Settings , will force the app to check for a network connection before starting. If there is no network connection present, it will not open the app.
If your device is lost or stolen, you can login to another device with your xID and activate and choose to wipeout the previous device data. Once the lost device is connected to the internet, it will instantly wipeout the xPal date permanently.
What is Total Wipeout™ (Reverse PIN)?
In the event that you wish to wipe out your entire text history and call logs from everywhere, you can activate the Total Wipeout™ feature in Settings. This feature is a one-step method to enter your 4-digit PIN in reverse which will instantly wipe out your history and masks your contacts. This includes all your chat history on your device and on all recipients’ devices, including their conversations with you on their device. Yes, their replies to you will also be permanently deleted on their device. This is a proprietary feature of xPal.

Yes, their chat with you on their device. Also, it will remove your xID from their contact list and block any future communication with that recipient. In other words, it erases the history with that contact as if it never existed.
To use this feature, simply swipe left on the contact’s chat from the main screen (the chat list). Choose Terminate™ and confirm. Once done, it cannot be reversed.
What is Flicker™ mode (Disappearing Messages)?
This feature allows you to set a timer for which a message will permanently be deleted once read. You can set the timer between 30 seconds and up to 1 day.
To use this feature, simply tap the clock icon in the text entry box of the chat.
What is Decoy PIN?
To provide you with additional privacy and to protect you from prying eyes or unwanted snooping of your account, you can add a second 4-Digit PIN which will hide all your messages, call log, and contacts. It will be as if you are a new user.
This is not the same as the Total Wipeout™ reverse PIN entry. The difference is that your data in the Decoy mode will not be wiped out. It will be hidden until your correct PIN is entered.
How it works:
• Turn on the Decoy 4-Digit PIN mode.
• If you enter the Decoy PIN to access the app, it will hide all your data and contacts.
• To return to normal mode, reopen the app and enter your actual PIN. Your data will return to normal.

Why I can’t take a screenshot of a group chat?
Screenshots for Group chat is not permitted in order to protect the privacy of the Group members.
Why I can’t use disappearing messages with Group chats?
The fact that a message can only be deleted once every member of the Group has read it may lead to unnecessary confusion amongst participants. The reason is that there may be a member or members who have not yet joined the chat or are offline. This would keep the message in the chat window permanently since everyone has not seen it. These scenarios might lead to the conclusion that there is a glitch in the system, when in fact there is not. As a result, we have decided to disable that feature for groups. However, members can always delete their messages from all participants by simply long-press on the message and choose which messages you want to Erase. Then choose Erase, and From Everywhere.
How can I take notes during a Group chat?
In the Group chat window, simply tap on the Note icon. It will open a window for you to take notes. Each note is specific to a Group.
